The practice of using human bodies as a marketplace has been normalised under the neoliberal economic system. Supporting the notion that prostitution is “labour” is not a progressive or female-friendly point of view.

Perception of prostitution depends on culturally set on values that differ from societies to societies. In some societies, prostitutes have been seen as a member of a recognized profession; in others they have been shunned, criticised, and punished with stoning, imprisonment and even death.
Few societies have implemented the same behaviour with the clients too. Indeed, in many societies, clients suffer few legal repercussions. In some cultures, prostitution has been required of young girls as a rite of puberty or as a means of acquiring dowry, and some religions have required prostitution of a certain class of priestesses.

In most asian and middle eastern countries, prostitution is illegal but widely tolerated. Among predominantly muslim countries, Turkey has legalised prostitution and added them as a subject to a system of a health checks for sex workers. In bangladesh prostitution is legal but related behaviour such as solisticing is prohibited.
In some asian countries involvement of children in prostitution has encouraged the rise of “sex tourism” by men from countries are illegal.

It is very difficult to generalise about the background and state of prostitutes because so much of what is known about them derives from studies of poorer and less wealthy individuals.
Much more is known about streetwalkers, for example, than about the higher status women who can be more critical about their clients and work conditions.
Many are drawn at an early age into prostitution and associated in crime, and drugs dependency can be aggravating factor. They regularly are managed by a male procurer, or pimp, or by a supervisor, or a madam in a prostitution house.
Health danger or hazard to prostitutes includes sexually mediated diseases, some of them which are acquired through drug abuse.
Male prostitution has recieved less public attention in most cultures. Hetrosexual male prostitution - involving males hired by or for females - is rare.

If prostitution is “sex work”, then by its own logic, rape is mere a theft. The inside of a woman's body should never be viewed as a workplace.
